Nanny Housekeeper

Nanny Housekeepers Are a Fantastic Addition to Any Home !

Nanny Housekeepers are a valuable support in busy family homes, providing a combination of childcare and household assistance.

In most households, the role involves a natural balance between caring for children and helping maintain the home throughout the day, depending on the family’s routine and needs.

A Nanny Housekeeper is responsible first and foremost for the care, safety, and wellbeing of the children in their care.

Hours and structure

Nanny Housekeeper roles are typically full-time positions of 30–45 hours per week, usually across 4–5 days per week.
A minimum working day of 6–8 hours per shift is generally expected, depending on the family’s routine and children’s needs.
Hours will vary across the day as childcare and household duties are carried out together within the normal flow of the home.

Childcare responsibilities include:

  • Full care and supervision of children
  • Supporting daily routines, including meals, hygiene, and sleep
  • Planning and engaging children in age-appropriate activities
  • School drop-offs and pick-ups were required
  • Supporting children’s development and wellbeing

Housekeeping duties may include:

  • Checking and purchasing groceries and household supplies
  • Light meal preparation and cooking
  • Caring for household pets
  • Washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen after use
  • Cleaning kitchen appliances after use
  • Running household errands
  • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
  • Dusting and polishing furniture and fittings
  • Wiping down glass surfaces
  • Making beds and changing linen as required
  • Tidying rooms and shared spaces
  • Sorting, washing, loading, and unloading laundry
  • Ironing and folding clothing and linen
  • Putting away clean laundry
  • Maintaining basic cleaning supplies and household items
  • Monitoring household maintenance and reporting repairs

Important note

This is a childcare-led role. The focus must always remain on the children during working hours. Household tasks are completed alongside childcare duties or within the normal flow of the day.

This role does not replace a professional housekeeper or cleaner. Families requiring deep cleaning or full housekeeping services should engage a dedicated Housekeeper or House Manager.
